CAMBRIDGE, MA ![]() ![]() Alewife Red Line station ![]() Established in 1992, the Minuteman Commuter Trail is a paved two-lane path that follows an old rail trail. Eleven (11) miles long, it connects the communities of Cambridge, Arlington, Lexington and Bedford. This trail also leads to bike paths around Fresh Pond, into Davis Square in Somer- ville and Harvard Square in Cambridge. From Harvard Square, paths on either side of the Charles River go into downtown Boston. www.tba.org/ ARLINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS ![]() ![]() Arlington Center ![]() Arlington Center is a great place to grab something to drink, have lunch and pick up whatever you need for the rest of the way. It also has some very interesting sights like the time capsule dedicated in April 2001. www.tba.com TO ARLINGTON HEIGHTS and LEXINGTON ![]() ![]() Spy Pond ![]() The terrain along the trail varies from tree-lined wooded or residential areas, to ponds and meadows where boardwalks guide you through wetlands off the main trail, to town centers like Arlington and Depot Village in Lexington. The bikeway is also the site of many famous battles during the Revolutionary War, as seen here at the Battle at The Foot of the Rocks. BEDFORD MASSACHUSETTS ![]() ![]() Bedford Depot Park ![]() The trail in Bedford passes through farms, woods and wetlands bordering the trail, and like the entire 11-mile stretch, is paved and very flat, making for an easy ride.
